March 2014

This month we meet on March 15th.

Julia has volunteered to do the demonstration this month, it can either be wall art, coasters, box lids etc. Look like they could be lovely to make and also making lots of mess in the process.

Unfortunately I can't download the pictures onto this blog, but will send them via email with your reminders next week.

Hope to see you all then

February 2014

This month we met on 15th January.  As you can see by the photo's we had a very good turn out for our 12 hour charity craft marathon day, where we managed to make 200 cards for charity.

The British Legion, who I hire the hall from, have said it won't cost us anymore, as we are doing it for charity.  As the only time people think of the British Legion is on Poppy Day and they also do not have any shops to get more revenue, it was decided that they would be our chosen charity.  They can sell them to their members etc and keep the profit from them

Julia and Sandra kindly brought cakes in for us all, including gluten free.

Emma kindly gave a demonstration on how to make earrings, they didn't take her any time at all and she made it look so easy!!  Apologies Emma, as I forgot to take some photos!!  Thank you very much though.

Lot of members kindly brought in some spare craft bits from home that they no longer use, or some free things from magazines etc. so we could pool them and use whatever.   Dotty about Cards also very kindly donated a lot of Kanban kits and cards, these were very much appreciated, so a big thank you to them too.

Pete (my husband) kindly cooked some jacket potatoes and chilli, and brought them them down for about 5ish, to keep those that could stay going!!!!!!!  This was followed by some lovely cakes (as mentioned earlier).  Julia kindly made a card for Pete and everyone signed it to thank him, he was really surprised!!

At the final count we had 197 cards, so everyone managed to come up with enough to get it to the 200 mark.

Thank you to everyone who took part.  The day was amazing, with a lovely atmosphere and everyone working away like mad to get as much done as possible, but also enjoying themselves.  I think it was a fantastic achievement and well done.

Mr Spilling, who represents the British Legion, was so a bit shocked when I dropped them off, they he couldn't say a lot.  But phoned about 10 minutes after I got home, and he said he was just so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity they didn't know what to say.  I think that says it all and makes it all worth while.

Thank you

Chrissie xx

January 2014

A very Happy New year to you all.  This month we met on 18th January and obviously everyone was happy to be back to normal after the Christmas break.

This month I demonstrated how to make the Shambella bracelets.  This was something I was taught on the beach, in a bikini, in temperatures of about 35c in Egypt.  Slightly different with lots of jumpers on, the heating and temperatures of 2c outside!!!!!

Pete giving Sue some advise in how to do the fastener - not that he has seen it being done at all!!!!!!!

The boards were his design, as the chap (Omar) who showed me how to do them, had a nail in a desk top and the other end of the cord between his teeth!

Thanks goes to Omar for showing me how to do them.

December 2013

Christmas party time - Saturday 14th December

What a lovely turnout.  Everyone brought a Secret Santa present, which is a craft item up to the value of £5. Also a Secret Santa card.  As there are so many people in the club now, it is nice to receive a handmade card, so each person made one, and then everyone got a special handmade card each as well.

As for the food, what can I say, there was so much it was unbelievable.  Think some people spent most of the day 'grazing'.

From the feedback that I received, everyone had a really good time, but a big thank you must go to all of you for making the club such a success and also for making the party day go so well.

So a very big thank you to you all for all you have done during the year and may Pete and I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a very Happy and Crafting new year.

November 2013

This month we met on November 21st - and was very well attended again, its great to see so many people enjoying themselves.

Fran volunteered for the demonstation this month a 'flower punk cover'.  This was a tinfoli project, on a flowery note.  It uses kitchen foil, gilding wax, string and hot glue.

The above are all Frans examples, which we were all very impressed with, so intricate, amazing and very different.

These are just a few examples of what other members done on the day and the one on the right is what Sue B done at home afterwards.  They all look fantastic.

This is me getting caught in the act!!!!  Not very often I manage to get anything done.

A big thank you to Fran, who worked endlessly on the day to help everyone. If anyone would like to have a recap on this, then look on Frans You Tube page at:

October 2013

This month we met a week later, 26th October.  Julia kindly offered to do the demonstration this month and it was be a Christmas snowflake hanging card.

Once again we had a full house - and more - great to see.

This was made using the snowflake stamps and dies by Stampin' Up!  Julia had pre-cut most of the snowflakes for us already, which did make it a lot easier and I know everyone was happy about that.

Thank you Julia for volunteering once again.

September 2013

We all met up on 21st September and had twenty or so ladies again this month.  It was lovely to see you all and I know we all enjoyed seeing bit of the wedding that went on in the church - the bridges mother, possibly the groom and bestman, and some lovely bridesmaids.

Wendy had said she would do the demonstration this month, on foundation piecing in patchwork.
Wendy showed us all the principles of foundation piecing and then showed us how to either make a heart or Christmas tree.  Thank you very much Wendy, I know everyone enjoyed it and have heard from several people to say they were doing them.

I completed my christmas tree and made it into a card - so who knows who will get that one!!
